There is a fine line between ‘Celebrations’ and ‘Celebrations at HealthKart’. It may not be as pompous and extravagant, but is full of life and love. This Wednesday, we celebrated the birthday of our zappy Content writer, Jigyasa Jain.

With all the prettiness and innocence of a freshly turned 23, the birthday girl was prattling around unaware of the fact that a big party was cooking behind her. The girls of the content team were on the heads of their fellow marketing colleagues (poor boys) to contribute for the party. As is the trend of the world, the pretty ladies again had their way out. Cakes and snacks were ordered and we were all geared up for the celebrations.

The celebrations began at 4 with an e-mail invitation (We are an online organization, and also strive at saving paper) to gather at the conference room. It was difficult for the writer to fight his way inside to make a decent stance for pouncing at the cake. “The girl is popular”, he thought.

Once the cake was cut (amidst applauds and horrible chorus singing), the girls yet again took charge of distributing the food, while the guys ruefully looked at the delicious gooey piece of chocolate. Well, basically we guys are trained to pounce on the cake as soon as the birthday soul is done with it, and claw out whatever amount you can still manage to (and not at all in a pecking order).

We were not quite disappointed though. Along with the cake, we had munchy Samosas (Indian version of Empanadas) from a nearby shop which excels at the same, Rasgullas (Indian sweet) and Dhoklas (A delicacy which is spongy and heavenly). The girls (bless their husbands/would-be) turned out to be quite coordinated while distributing, while shutters were fired away at galore!

The Birthday girl (we finally turned our attention to us, now that our glutton cravings were satiated) was having her third chocolate facial by this time, and was looking miserably helpless with all that overflowing love and emotion from her colleagues and her frequent visit to the washbasin to clear off the chocolate mess.

After she sobered up a bit (with loads of threatening for a fourth round facial), she was gifted with an awesome portrait of hers, hand drawn in water color by our very talented art director, Varun. ‘Jigs’, as we call her, was thrilled to have such a party (or at least she said so) and started getting emotional and we knew it was time for us to run away!

Every day in HealthKart is special; because we are a small family here.

Here’s the cute birthday cake

Dr. Ankit sung a nursery rhyme on Healthkart while Naresh cried like a helpless pup. Unique punishments like “shouting” the mouseeji dialogue from Sholay was also enacted well by Vijay and saying alphabet backwards was also done by Ashok with full spirit.

Rahul enacted like a girl which he did in style with a handbag and a scarf.
The party, it seemed had just begun with foot tapping numbers and soul-stirring music that simply reverberated the scene. Sumit started the dance with Ankur who were later joined in with an unbelievable performance by Abdul. His poetic interest was also revealed when he said a few lines that enthralled the Health kart team.

Neha and Gayatri too burned the dance floors with their magnetic performance on peppy numbers. Everyone later joined in and showed their dancing skills on the “dance floor”.

This all sparked an appetite for everyone and they all feasted on yummy snacks like sandwiches, cutlets, samosas, gulab jamuns. The party was a huge success as every member of the health kart showed their inner skills and enjoyed to their fullest!

A bright sunny afternoon saw Mr. India Vinay Kumar coming to the Healthkart office.

The Healthkart team was more than happy to see the body builder flex his muscles. So while he gave an interview about his diet plan and exercise regime, the team was rather happy to note a few tips too. He started his ardent journey from being a cleaning boy in a gym. But later on moved towards building his body as he was very weak.

This became a regular routine for him as he slogged in the gym almost half the day without complaining. His dedicated approach soon ushered him to entering the Mr. Delhi title which he won hands down. And since then he never looked back. His stature of being the fittest man continued for 6 years. He moved on to higher achievements by entering the Mr. India title and winning it.

He proudly asserts his present stature as a result of dedicated hard work and a structured diet plan. With the constant support from his wife and 3 year old son, he has a strong ambition to reach for the Mr. World title very soon.

When asked about his indulgences and temptations, he affirmed his strong dislike for junk food and love for simple boiled food. The healthkart team did not think twice in getting snapshots clicked. His presence in the office definitely delighted Healthkart.

November 16th will go down as a fun day in HealthKart history. We had specialists from Abbott, sharing their insights about Abbott products like Glucerna, Ensure, Prosure, Mama’s Best and everyone’s favorite – Pediasure.

To be honest, we didn’t quite expect the session to be so involving. It started with a silly question – what is nutrition? We didn’t know that this simple question would open Pandora’s Box and give us more information than we ever imagined. Lots of terms were shot to and fro, with incisive questions from our Customer Service Corps. I must say, that on at least 8 occasions, we successfully confused out specialists! Being, true and thorough professionals, they got back to us with convincing answers.

Being Health Fanatics ourselves, we are not an easily convinced lot. Our barrage continued with both relevant and obtuse questions, ranging from constituent information, to flavors to whether fish oil is the only source of DHA to EFAs, to EPAs, to PUFA, MUFA and whatnot. We also had a debate on a popular kids drink (that all of us had while growing up) Vs Pediasure. It took them like 15 minutes – but they managed to convince us that if we had consumed Pediasure as kids, then we would have been way smarter than we are.

An involving discussion, usually ends with a consensus. Ours was so involving that we ended up with thirst, followed by consensus. The Abbott specialists pulled free samples out of thin air and suddenly we were sipping Glucerna & Mamas Best. Surprisingly, the white looking liquid (in both cases) tastes good. I’m considering adding that to my morning coffee. Or to my bowl of corn flakes.
