A joint is the location in our body where two or more bones make contact. Depending upon its structure a joint may allow movement at the contact point (e.g. wrist) or may be fixed (e.g. joints of skull). Movable joints are made up of muscles, cartilage, ligaments and a fluid called synovial fluid. During movement, the synovial fluid reduces friction (lubricates joints) and absorbs shock. It is due to the worn out cartilage, loss of synovial fluid and inflammation of the cartilage that joint pains occur. There are lots of supplements available which help in reducing joint pains or promote healing. E.g. glucosamine.
