PUMA Sportswear & Apparel:

Sportswear or sports apparels are special clothing athletes wear during athletic performances. An athlete has to spend a lot of energy and burn a lot of calories to give his or her 100% in an athletic performance. He or she should have some comfort while performing those strenuous sports feats and a suitable sportswear can give the athlete that comfort. The concept of sportswear actually originated in the United States and the fashion designing industry has gained much from this concept in the later years. In the era of the 1920s the term ‘sportswear’ was used for naming casual, relaxed clothing worn by players during spectator sports. In the era of the 1930s the term ‘sportswear’ was used to convey the formal fashions of evening and day, their style being relaxed and fit to be worn for social or business occasions. But in the 21st century we commonly recognize sportswear as athletic clothing.

Sportswear is also known as Active wear. Typical sportswear or sport apparels could be jerseys, polo shirts, shorts, socks, T-shirts, tracksuits, tennis shirts. There are also some special kinds of sports apparels such as Wet suits. These Wet suits are needed during sports like surfing, swimming, diving etc. The other special kinds of sports apparels could be Leotards for gymnastics or Salopettes for skiing. There is some sports underwear also like sports bra or jockstrap. Nylon, Elastane, Spandex, Polyester are some of the sportswear making fabrics being used nowadays.

The main benefits of using sportswear or sports apparels may be listed below:

  • Sports apparels are made up of materials that make the apparels light-weight enough and not all tight-fitting. This feature improves the functionality of the athlete because his or her movements are not restricted in any way because of the clothing.
  • Sportswear very well meet the thermal insulation requirements of the athlete thereby giving the athlete utmost comfort. In a hot weather, the sportswear will keep the athlete cool and when the weather is cold, the sportswear will keep the athlete warm.
  • Sportswear keeps athlete’s body dry and perspiration-free with the help of its moisture wicking technology. The technology quickly wicks up the moisture; i.e. sweat and transfers it to the sportswear fabric’s outermost layer where it is evaporated easily.
  • There are some sportswear that are worn by athletes for safety reasons such as helmets in cricket, car racing etc., body armor in American Football. These gears offer protection to athletes from any injury during games and sports.

While participating in a sport, you should put on the right sportswear because on it depend your performance level. Here are some tips for choosing the right sportswear:

  • Pick a sportswear that is lightweight. Heavyweight clothing will encumber your athletic moves and you will feel the clothing a burden on you.
  • Keep in mind the type of sports you are participating in most of the time. For example if you are a passionate diver, you should not waste money on jerseys but buy a few wet suits.

Also try to pick sportswear that will offer you comfort, such as those that are not too tight-fitting or those that come with the moisture wicking feature.
