Though i've been working out for 2+ years now, i don't see significant muscle growth

I'm 18 years old and started working out when I was 16. I've lost fat and seen increase in stamina along with a little muscle tone. However I don't see significant muscle growth for a person who has been training for 2 years. I started taking supplements 6 months ago. There was a little difference from my earlier physique but not as much as I would like. My trainer says my muscles have not yet matured. What do I do?
