Rice should then be drained and set aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Finely chop the tomatoes, onions, and green peppers. In a mortar and pestle, peel and grind the ginger and garlic. Also, mince the leaves of the mint and coriander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Set aside all of the rice&#8217;s required spices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 5: <\/strong>Heat the oil in a 3-litre pressure cooker. Add the mustard seeds and let them crackle while maintaining a low flame. Fenugreek seeds are to be added next and they are quickly and gently fried without being burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 6:<\/strong> After that, add finely chopped onions, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. The onions should be stirred and saut\u00e9ed until transparent and tender. Curry leaves, chopped green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste should all be added. Stirring and saut\u00e9ing for a few seconds is necessary to get rid of the raw ginger-garlic aroma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 7: <\/strong>Add the chopped mint and coriander leaves at this point. For one minute, stir and fry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 8:<\/strong> Keep the heat on low or turn it off. Add the finely diced tomatoes as well as the turmeric, red chilli, crushed or powdered black pepper, coriander, and cumin powders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 9:<\/strong> Mix thoroughly, then saut\u00e9 the tomatoes until they are soft and pulpy and oil is oozing out of the sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 10:<\/strong> Add the rice that has been soaked. Gently combine the tomato mixture with the rice. Cook for one minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 11:<\/strong> Add 1.75 cups of water. You can also add 2 cups of water for the rice to have a softer consistency. As per taste, season with salt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 12:<\/strong> Tomato rice should be pressure cooked for two whistles on medium heat or for 10 to 11 minutes. You may alternatively pressure cook the rice for three whistles if you want it to be softer. Once the cover is off, gently mix the tomato rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 13:<\/strong> Serve the tomato rice with appalams, chips, or raita on the side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips_to_Enhance_the_Taste\"><\/span><strong>Tips to Enhance the Taste<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use less ginger-garlic paste, black pepper, and red chilli powder to lessen the heat and pungency. Therefore, you can add 1\/4 teaspoon each of red chilli powder, black pepper, and ginger-garlic paste.<\/li><li>Use 1 3\/4 cups of water because it is the ideal amount for the basmati rice. The quality of the rice will also affect how much water you need to add. You can add 2 cups for softer rice and 1 1\/2 cups for separate grains of rice.<\/li><li>Although you can make this dish for a larger audience, proportionally increasing the ingredients might not work in this case.<\/li><li>When cooking rice in a pan, add 2 cups of water at first, then cover with a lid and simmer.
