As the disease advances, simple activities like walking or going up the stairs may seem impossible to accomplish.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Chronic Dry Cough:<\/strong> Another sign is a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dry <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cough tha<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t usually progresses<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with time<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and it is without significant sputum production.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Fatigue:<\/strong> Pulmonary dysfunction leads to low oxygen levels in the blood which leads to fatigue and weakness.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Weight Loss:<\/strong> Some of the signs that may cause weight loss include breathing problems and loss of appetite.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Clubbing of Fingers and Toes:<\/strong> In severe pulmonary fibrosis, the fingers and toes become thickened and rounded, a condition called clubbing.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Signs_of_Pulmonary_Fibrosis_Stage_4\"><\/span><strong>Signs of Pulmonary Fibrosis Stage 4\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In stage 4 of pulmonary fibrosis, also known as end-stage pulmonary fibrosis, symptoms are typically severe and may include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Severe Shortness of Breath<\/strong>: Even the contraction of muscles can lead to severe shortness of breath.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Extreme Fatigue:<\/strong> Some of the things that people may experience include getting up from bed or even walking to the shops may be very difficult due to the exhaustion and weakness.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Cyanosis:<\/strong> A bluish discolouration of the lips and fingertips which is caused by lack of oxygen in the blood.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Frequent Respiratory Infections:<\/strong> Pneumonia is a lung infection that is likely to occur in people with bad lungs.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pulmonary_Fibrosis_Treatment\"><\/span><strong>Pulmonary Fibrosis Treatment\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While there is no cure for pulmonary fibrosis, various treatment options are available to manage symptoms, slow disease progression, and improve quality of life:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Medications:<\/strong> In some cases immunosuppressive drugs and corticosteroids may be useful in controlling inflammation and the development of fibrosis.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Oxygen Therapy:<\/strong> Oxygen therapy is useful in the management of dyspnoea and enhancing exercise capacity.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Pulmonary Rehabilitation:<\/strong> Exercise schedule, which is accompanied with teaching and support, is a good way for pulmonary fibrosis patients to exercise and control the disease.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Lung Transplant:<\/strong> In cases where the patient has higher stages of pulmonary fibrosis that cannot be managed through other treatments, then the only option is lung transplantation.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Clinical Trials:<\/strong> It is possible that engaging in clinical trials that are researching new meds and therapy approaches may be a good solution for patients with pulmonary fibrosis.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span><strong>Conclusion\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pulmonary fibrosis is a very difficult and sometimes fatal <a href=\"https:\/\/connect.healthkart.com\/lung-disease\/\">lung disease<\/a>, the primary characteristic of which is the gradual thickening of lung tissues.
