Chandipura virus infection is rare but can cause severe illness, especially in children. It may initially appear like a routine fever, but symptoms can worsen rapidly as the infection can affect the brain. If a child develops a sudden high fever along with repeated vomiting, unusual sleepiness, confusion, seizures, or loss of consciousness, seek emergency medical attention without delay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chandipura virus (CHPV) has caused outbreaks of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the past. It is especially affecting children below 15 years of age in India. It has been in focus again in 2026. The<\/span> Ministry of Health and Family Welfare<\/span><\/a> deployed a National Joint Outbreak Response Team to Gujarat and Rajasthan on 5 August in response to ongoing CHPV outbreaks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Consequently, it is important to understand the symptoms, transmission, treatment, and prevention of the Chandipura virus, especially for parents living in outbreak-affected regions of India.<\/span><\/p>\n
