100% Premium Micellar Casein

It's all micellar protein and very little else. In each 34g serve, you get 24g protein, only 1g fat, 3g carbs, and 1g sugar to keep unwanted fat away.  Beyond these basics, you are also looking at around 5g of BCAAs and 5g of glutamine and glutamine precursors which are all key amino acids that help you with muscle development and recovery.

24g of Protein in Just One Serving of 34g

24g of protein in just one scoop of 34g, loaded with amino acids like arginine, threonine, methionine and glutamine and precursors. The ultra-filtered, time-release casein ensures that enough protein reaches your target muscle groups while your body is at rest, feeding your muscles with a constant supply of amino acids for over many hours.

Casein proteins are the primary constituents of animal milk protein (accounting roughly around 80% of the total milk protein). The amount of casein in cow?s milk varies according to the breed of cow andstage of lactation, but is generally in the range of 24-29 g L-1. Casein contains 0.7-0.9 % of phosphorus, covalently bound to the protein by a serine ester linkage. Casein is consequently known as phopho-protein. Casein protein contains all the amino acids essential to man in high proportion, with the possible exception of cysteine.  Thus, casein may be considered as a highly nutritious protein.
Casein exists in milk in complex groups of molecules (referred to as calcium phopho-caseinate)that are called ?micelles?. The micelles consist of casein molecules, calcium, inorganic phosphate and citrate ions, and have a typical molecular weight of several hundred millions. Casein micelles exist in milk as a very stable colloidal dispersion. The caseins, as proteins, are made up ofmany hundreds of individual amino acids, each of which may have a positive or a negativecharge, depending on the pH of the [milk] system. At some pH value, all the positive chargesand all the negative charges on the [casein] protein will be in balance, so that the net chargeon the protein will be zero. That pH value is known as the isoelectric point (IEP) of theprotein and is generally the pH at which the protein is least soluble. For casein, the IEP isapproximately 4.6 and it is the pH value at which acid casein is precipitated. In milk, whichhas a pH of about 6.6, the casein micelles have a net negative charge and are quite stable. Casein has been shown to consist of several individual casein components, referredto as ?s1-, ?s2-, ?- and ?-casein.

HOW MUCH, HOW AND WHEN?

Casein, like whey, is easy to use and can be consumed any time of the day. However, due to casein's slow digestion and amino acid release, it's generally taken when you might be without food for a long period of time.
As such, many people prefer to consume casein at night with the thought that consuming a slow-digesting protein will help stave off catabolism (muscle breakdown). While there is little research examining the use of casein overnight, it has been shown to reduce protein breakdown and thus may be useful in such situations.
How much casein to consume depends on a number of factors like weight, total protein intake, and whether you're consuming it alone or with other protein sources.
Therefore, if you're taking casein alone, it can be beneficial to devour a large dose to try and maximize anabolism. 40 to 50 grams of casein protein (if consumed alone) for a 200-pound muscle-building male who wants to maximize the muscle-building response, is recommended.
Casein protein can also be combined with whey protein to enhance the anabolic response; if you are seeking a great option for after a workout, try combining whey and casein protein supplements in a 2:1 ratio, respectively.
Furthermore, the characteristic coagulating property of casein protein when it?s exposed to acidic environments and/or high temperatures make it tricky to bake with or add to hot foods since it will tend to be insoluble and clump up. But a great application of casein protein powder (for those who like to get creative in the kitchen) is to make ?protein pudding?, also colloquially referred to as ?sludge?. Since casein powder will readily gel/thicken up when mixed in minute amounts of liquid this can be a nice treat for those who get tired of always drinking their protein supplements.

IS IT SAFE?

A small number of people are actually allergic to casein protein. They might experience side effects such as upset stomach, pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and/or other GI problems.Additionally, consuming large amounts of casein might cause a bit of digestive distress even in the non-allergic. Because casein gels, it can lead to a spot of bloating and general discomfort in mega-doses-especially for the people around you. Don't use casein protein if you're allergic, or if your physician has advised you against it. Furthermore, don't Hoover casein by the fistful.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE IN THE MARKET?

As a rule, purchasing supplements whose maker can provide lab analysis of their products is recommended. This ensures that what's on the label is actually in the bottle. Also note that many companies sell protein blends containing both casein and whey. Since these blends are typically more expensive, remember that you can always craft your own casein-whey cocktail. Please, don't actually add any liquor.

WHEY PROTEIN OR CASEIN, WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

It is a very often asked question. There seems to be a great controversy over which one is better. Here is some information that directly compares whey and casein.
Casein protein constitutes 80% of milk protein. It is recognized for its excellent amino acid content, slow-digestion, and anti-catabolic effect. It should be used at meals (can be combined with other proteins) and at bedtime. It should not be used when trying to accelerate amino acid absorption.Approximately 20% of the protein found in milk is Whey Protein. Whey is the richestnatural source of BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) and is usually the preferred choice for muscle building, weight loss and managing health. It increases protein synthesis, enhances immune function, antioxidant activity and fast bsorption. This is excellent to consume around workout time due to its fast absorption rate. Consume it pre-, during, or immediately post-workout.
Athletes/bodybuilders usually combine the two, consuming whey for quick protein replenishment and baking on Casein for it's slow and steady protein release, leading to muscle recovery while they areasleep.

WHAT ARE CASEIN HYDROLYSATE AND MICELLAR CASEIN?

Proteins are made up of many peptide bonds that conjoin amino acids via carbon-nitrogen bonds. These bonds are necessarily ?lysed? (i.e. split) by the process of hydrolysis which subsequently increases free amino-acid concentrations in the blood. Hence, hydrolysis refers to the splitting of a chemical bond by an H2O molecule.
Casein hydrolysate (also sometimes referred to as hydrolyzed casein) is enzymaticallyhydrolyzed during processing to improve its rate of absorption. The increase indigestion/absorption rate and amino acid delivery to skeletal muscle tissue arises from the fact that the protein structure is essentially ?pre-digested? into smaller peptide fractions from its intact, original structure.
Micellar casein is a soluble, high-quality milk protein powder with a clean flavor. Micellar casein protein can essentially be described as the whole, undenatured form; in nature, most casein protein exists as what?s known as a casein micelle.A casein micelle is a colloidal particle that biologically serves to transport insoluble calcium-phosphate complexes in liquid form to the stomach for clotting and subsequent digestion. In fact, over 90% of the calcium content in skim milk is linked with the casein micelle. For this reason, as aforementioned in the benefits section, casein protein supplements can serve as potent sources of calcium.

IS A CASEIN PROTEIN SUPPLEMENT OKAY IF I HAVE AN ALLERGY TO MILK?

Unfortunately casein is not safe for consumption if you have allergic reactions to milk; the proteins in milk are known allergens.

IS A CASEIN PROTEIN SUPPLEMENT OKAY IF I AM LACTOSE INTOLERANT?

Yes, casein is a protein in milk and has nothing to do with lactose (a sugar component of milk).

DOES RICE, SOY, OR ALMOND MILKS CONTAIN CASEIN PROTEIN?

No, these are vegetable/grain-based milk products and casein protein is found in animal-derived milk products.

HOW MUCH PROTEIN SHOULD I AIM FOR EVERYDAY?

This will vary according to your goals, lifestyle and metabolic factors. A good starting point for trainees is 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass.

I?M A VEGETARIAN, CAN I USE CASEIN SUPPLEMENTS?

Yes, casein supplements are a great source of protein for those abstaining from animal sources of protein.

CAN?T I JUST DRINK MILK INSTEAD OF BUYING A CASEIN SUPPLEMENT?

Yes, but it?s actually a better value in terms of price per gram of protein to use a pure casein supplement since milk contains other nutrients like carbohydrates and fats.

  • 2 lb Banana Cream
release protein at night - vam

Bodybuilders know the importance of nutrition frequency, and they also know that the majority of muscle repairing and rebuilding takes place during sleep. For optimal muscle recovery, the body needs a constant supply of nutrients, and most importantly, protein. When taken before bed, whey protein will be absorbed within about 45 mins, leaving the body without a protein source for up to 8 hours. Micellar Casein will provide the body with a protein source for up to 7 hours, greatly reducing muscle catabolism.
