History Behind the World Cappuccino Day
Wondering how this beverage got its name. The Catholic Church Friars were also referred to as Capuchin Monks during the 17th Century. The Capuchin Monks in Italy covered their heads with brown frocks. It is believed that the Cappuccino Coffee topped with brown foam derived its name from these Capuchin Monks.
In the early 1800s, Kapuziner, an early version of Cappuccino, was served in Viennese Coffee Houses. But this beverage was nothing close to the present Cappuccino coffee and was made from only cream and sugar.
Luigi Bezzera designed the distinguished and globally renowned espresso machine. In 1901, the first espresso machine was manufactured and patented by Bezzera. Various espresso beverages, including Cappuccino Coffee, have been brought into the market since then.
Cappuccino Coffee, referred to as Cappuccini in Italy, became a staple beverage of the country in the 1930s. To date, the locals have this beverage along with breakfast, after dinner, with a sweet dessert.

How to make
To pull a dark shot of espresso, you will have to
- Gather the ingredients
- Place water in the boiler of your espresso machine
- Place 2 tablespoons of ground coffee ( if you need 2 shots) in the portafilter
- Pack the coffee ground coffee tightly by pressing the coffee down using a tamper.
- Place the portafilter in the group head of your espresso machine and lock it in place.
- Place a cup under the group head and pull the shot until you get 2 ounces of espresso.
- You can use either the lever, button, or the switch provided to start the procedure of pulling shots.
- Now it is time to foam the milk.
Making the foam
- Use a glass measuring cup or metal pitcher to foam the milk.
- Insert the steam wand into the container with milk. The wand should be just under the surface of the milk.
- Engage the steam wand in your espresso machine (read instructions for this in the espresso machine manual)
- The tip of the wand should be to the side of the container.
- Move the container higher, lower, closer, and further for the steam wand to induce air into the milk. The bubbles should get smaller during this process.
- Once the milk is foamed to double its size, turn off the steam wand.
- Top the espresso with foam
