Coronaviruses are zoonotic which means that the viruses transmitted from animals to humans or vice versa. CoV is a large virus family which has a degree of severe diseases including MERS-CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), (nCoV) and SARS-CoV (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV are transmitted from civet cats, dromedary camels to people respectively. Several coronaviruses are not found that are circulating in animals but not infected humans yet. 

Status In India: Confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported to ___ till now. Footprints of the virus has been found almost major cities in India like Delhi, Gurgaon, Amritsar in Punjab, Hyderabad in Telangana, Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, and Udaipur in Rajasthan, Ghaziabad, Agra, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Shimla in Himachal, Bengaluru in Karnataka, and other cities in Bihar, Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra,  Kerala, and other states.

Reported Coronavirus Symptoms range from mild to severe degrees. Either older people or people with medical conditions such as respiratory illness, influenza, and heart disease may be at a higher degree of this serious illness.

Common coronavirus infection symptoms are:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Common Cold
  • Breathing issues like breathing shortness or difficulty in breathing

In severe cases, coronavirus infection causes:

  • Kidney failure
  • Pneumonia
  • Acute Respiratory Syndrome
  • Dealth

Corona symptoms may appear within 2 to 14 days after being exposed to the virus.  As many viruses in animals are not found, many coronavirus symptoms in humans are yet to be found.

You invite germs when you touch objects, surfaces, and people on your hands. Now when you touch your nose, eyes or mouth with your hands, you get infected. Although there is no vaccine available to cure the coronavirus, you have to take some measures to prevent the risk of  coronavirus infection. Prevention and healthy cleanliness habits are better than cure. Practice some of these habits to avoid infection. To avoid the virus, there are the standard precaution measures recommended by WHO and CDC. 

  • Avoid touching your nose, eyes, or mouth if you have not washed hands. 
  • Cover your mouth, nose with tissue, hands, or elbow while coughing or  sneezing respectively. Wash your hands after it. 
  • Use sanitizer, handwash, soap & water for washing hands. Use the sanitizer having an alcohol base. 
  • Make a distance with any person who you find infected.
  • Clean your table and surface where you eat, work, or touch so often. 
  • Don’t share bedding, glasses, dishes, and other households with sick one or if you are sick yourself. 
  • As a responsible person, stay away from public areas such as school, offices, parties, and others if you are infected. 
  • Improve eating habits like avoiding raw or undercooked meat. 
  • Avoid visiting places where the virus has recently broken out.

Frequent hand-washing is one of the easiest and best ways to prevent spreading illness. Here are some tips to wash your hands. 

Dos: Wash your hands  before after doing these things:

  • Before eating, inserting or removing eye contact lenses,and treating wounds
  • After preparing food, using toilets, cleaning up, coughing, sneezing, blowing nose, handling garbage, handling pets & their foods, and caring for sick people. 

Don’ts: 

  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth after touching the surface, people, and object without washing hands to limit the transfer of microbes like bacteria and viruses.

Follow the given steps for washing hands as it is the best way to avoid the infections.

  • Use warm or cold water to clean your hands.
  • Apply soap well and rub for minimum for 20 seconds with hard hands to back and front of hands. Don’t forget to rub between fingers, nails, and wrists. 
  • Once washing hands is done, dry these with an air-drier or clean towel. 
  • You can use a sanitizer that doesn’t need water to wash. Make sure the sanitizer you are using contains more than 60% alcohol and rub the liquid all over fingers, hands, and nails.  

Coronavirus Safety Measures & Precautions: 

N95 respirator that is also called SARS-CoV-2 is very helpful to protect you against coronavirus as it is thicker than any other surgical mask. Regular masks and medical masks are not able to protect you from it. CDC suggests that it is not necessary to wear a mask to healthy people to protect themselves from the infection. Wear it only if a health care provider suggests  you  do so. 

Although Coronavirus has claimed lives, with the right precautions you can easily avoid it. So, you needn’t panic, stay aware, take safety measures, and stay safe.
