Sachin Tendulkar’s Birthday: The Food That Fuels the Master Blaster

Written By HealthKart

Sachin Tendulkar’s Birthday

One of the most exquisite batsmen in the world, Sachin Tendulkar,  has very simple food preferences. Like every athlete, he too makes food a top priority to keep himself fit even after retiring from one of the most illustrious sporting careers.  On Sachin Tendulkar’s Birthday, we take a look at his diet plan, which is rather simple yet effective.

Sachin’s Super Diet Plan

The nutrient division is the most important part of any diet plan. Sachin Tendulkar divides his meal plan into 40% carbs, 30% fats, and 30% protein. This gives him enough calories to stay active and fit.

The mantra that defines Sachin Tendular diet plan is reducing foods that cause stress to the digestive system. When he is travelling, the cricket star avoids oily foods and sticks to steamed or boiled options.

1. Breakfast

He starts his day with steamed foods that are light and easy to digest. Sachin Tendulkar favourite food in the morning is a simple bowl of porridge made with milk and a sprinkle of raisins. This is followed by a cup of tea or fresh fruit juice. Sachin Tendulkar is known for a strict exercise routine during the day. This is his preferred way of staying in shape. So, a good workout after breakfast is followed by a protein shake to keep him fuelled. A light grilled fish sandwich or a bowl of fruits with soft cheese is usually a post-breakfast snack. This gives him just the right amount of energy and fuel until the next meal.

2. Lunch

Sachin is desi at heart. So, a hearty meal is one that includes roti, dal, and a portion of protein. Sachin Tendulkar vegetarian protein foods include lentils or dal. However, to maintain a higher intake, he includes fish with every large meal. In addition to this, he also eats a handful of mixed nuts, seeds, and a bowl of salad.

The meal is finished with a cup of curd. When he is travelling for long periods, Sachin comes home to varan bhat. It replaces his regular diet and helps him recover from all the exotic food that he usually indulges in while travelling. Varan bhat is a simple staple in Maharashtrian cuisine that is made with seasoned moong dal, hot rice, and a healthy dollop of ghee. Surprisingly, dal and rice, he said in an interview, was also the favourite food of many English players.

3. Post Lunch Snack

While he was still in the game, post lunch was usually time for training and workout. So, the only thing consumed during this time was water with some electrolytes. This kept him free from cramps and even gave him enough energy to keep going. However, since his retirement,  Sachin Tendulkar diet plan includes some dry fruits and nuts post lunch.

4. Dinner

Dinner is usually the same as lunch. However, being a foodie, he enjoys trying different restaurants and dishes and is known to experiment with his food during dinnertime with his family and friends. Unknown to most people, Sachin Tendulkar is a great cook. So, a bowl of his homemade fish curry with rice is a go-to dinner option on special occasions. This recipe was handed down to him by his mother. He proudly claims that his wife, Anjali, says that it is the best fish curry she has ever eaten.

Cheat Day Favourites

Like every Maharashtrian, Sachin Tendulkar often indulges in vada pav. He is particular about the flavours. “Red Chutney, very little green chutney and some Imli chutney” is what the batsman prefers with his Vada Pav.

There is another Maharashtrian dish that follows closely on the Sachin Tendulkar favourite food list. Misal Pav with a squeeze of lemon is a great breakfast and snack. In a post on Instagram, he even shared a video of his go-to-dish stating, “Be it Sunday or Monday, I will  take misal pav any day.”

From Sachin Tendulkar birthday celebrations to family outings, local seafood dishes are a regular feature. One of his favourite Indian dishes is prawns masala. Other local dishes that are part of his cheat day meals are Kheema Paratha and Lassi.

Sachin is also known to enjoy Japanese food, mostly sushi and sashimi. He even introduced teammate, Suresh Raina to Japanese cuisine.

On Sachin Tendulkar’s birthday, we wish our favourite cricket a year of indulgence in great food. Although he is quite particular about what he eats, Sachin always recommends a good balance with regular exercise. As you can see, he is quite fond of food and still manages to stay fit. So, that is truly some great advice. Wouldn’t you agree?
