6 Best Glutathione Supplements for Skin in India (2026): Ranked by Dose, Source & Testing

Understanding supplements can be really tricky. And assessing marketing claims can quickly become frustrating. It’s difficult for consumers to know where to look to verify the claims of glutathione products marketed as “clinically proven”. Or to know which one has “skin whitening” power. And which one is “dermatologist-approved”. Or which lab has conducted the tests. This guide ranks the six best glutathione supplements for skin in India. It is based on their nutrition panels, doses, ingredient sources, delivery systems, pricing, and any third-party evidence. It uses independently verified information. It also considers brand claims so you can evaluate products and make purchases.

HK Vitals Glutathione Effervescent is the best overall pick. While other products claim to contain 600 mg of glutathione, a dated FARE Labs report for the sample ACNPB129 actually determined HK Vitals contained 626.54 mg. Carbamide Forte Glutathione Effervescent 600 mg gains our recommendation as the better value product. At the same time, Glutone 1000 gains our recommendation as the better named-source product. It contains 600 mg of Setria® glutathione, sourced from Kyowa Hakko Bio, Japan.

How We Ranked These Glutathione Supplements

Active Glutathione Dose – 28%

The active dose carried the highest weight in the ranking. We checked the amount of glutathione listed in the nutrition panel. We didn’t just rely on large front-of-pack claims or marketing headlines.

Formulation and Delivery Format – 22%

The product’s delivery format accounted for 22% of the score. Effervescent and liposomal formulations received consideration for convenience and formulation design. But they were not automatically ranked higher based on an unproven assumption of superior absorption.

Label Transparency – 17%

We assessed whether the product clearly disclosed the dose of every active ingredient. Products with complete nutrition panels ranked higher than those using vague blends. Or the ones with partially disclosed formulas.

Ingredient Sourcing and Third-Party Testing – 17%

Named glutathione sources such as Setria® and OPITAC™ received credit for traceability. We also reviewed available testing evidence. A dated, accessible laboratory report carried more weight than an unsupported “lab-tested” badge or certification claim.

Price per Serving – 11%

Prices were compared on a per-serving basis rather than by pack price alone. This helped identify which products offered better value for the verified or label-declared amount of glutathione delivered.

Customer Ratings and Reviews – 5%

Ratings and reviews were used only as a supporting signal for factors such as taste, convenience and user experience. They carried the lowest weight. Customer feedback cannot independently confirm ingredient potency, absorption, or clinical effectiveness.

A dated lab report outranked a “lab-tested” badge without an attachment. Setria® and OPITAC™ earned traceability. While the other branded raw materials remained untested for finished-product testing.

Top 6 Glutathione Supplements for Skin in India — Ranked

1. HK Vitals Glutathione Effervescent | Score: 90/100

Active Dose Formulation Label Transparency Sourcing & Testing Price Community Reviews
28/28 20/22 16/17 16/17 6/11 4/5

Best overall for accessible, batch-specific testing.

Form: Effervescent tablet

Dose: 600 mg on label; 626.54 mg in one tested batch

Price: ₹759 for 15 tablets, or about ₹50.60 per serving

This supplement contains 600 mg of L-glutathione, 65 mg vitamin C, 10 mg vitamin E, and 100 mg sodium hyaluronate. The label lists preservative INS 211, sweetener INS 955, and colour INS 110. It allows customers to check the additives prior to purchase.

A FARE Labs report dated June 29, 2026, noted 626.54 mg of glutathione per tablet in batch ACNPB129. The report noted that arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury were below the limits of quantification. The microbiological criteria were fulfilled. The sample was collected at the Bright Lifecare premises by a representative of the lab. The report states that the results are applicable to the tested sample, so it is strong batch-specific evidence. This does not provide evidence for every pack.

Pros

  • Only entry here with an accessible finished-product assay located during verification.
  • Tested sample slightly exceeded the label claim.
  • Includes vitamins C and E plus sodium hyaluronate.
  • Effervescent format may suit people who dislike capsules.

Cons

  • The glutathione supplier is not named.
  • Costs more per 600 mg serving

The current HealthKart listing confirms the 600 mg dose and 15-tablet pack.

Community Reviews: The exact HK Vitals Watermelon 15-tablet Amazon reviews currently has a 4.0-star rating from 143 global ratings. Reviewers frequently mention the pleasant taste, easy dissolution and perceived improvements in skin clarity or pigmentation. These are self-reported experiences, and the review base is smaller than other listings.

2. Carbamide Forte Japanese Reduced L-Glutathione Effervescent 600 mg | Score: 86/100

Active Dose Formulation Label Transparency Sourcing & Testing Price Community Reviews
28/28 20/22 16/17 8/17 9/11 5/5

Best value among the 600 mg effervescent options.

Form: Effervescent tablet

Dose: 600 mg reduced L-glutathione

Price: ₹499 for 15 tablets, or about ₹33.27 per serving

This supplement also contains reduced L-glutathione, vitamin C, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid. It also has blueberry, goji berry and grape seed extracts, lycopene, astaxanthin, biotin and selenium. This product is well labelled for those looking for a wider range of antioxidants.

In terms of value, this product is strong. It provides the same labelled dose as the top item, but the cost is about ₹17 less per serving. The supporting ingredients are also noted on the product page.

Limitations are due to verification. The brand claims to manufacture and test. Although no dated, downloadable finished-product batch report was found. Badges for GMP, ISO, HACCP, or FSSAI do not confirm that one tablet contains exactly 600 mg independently.

Pros

  • Competitive price for a 600 mg label dose.
  • Broad, clearly described supporting formula.
  • Convenient water-dissolving format.
  • Lower cost per dose than the other top-three products.

Cons

  • No accessible finished-product report was located.
  • A longer ingredient list may not suit sensitive users.
  • Effervescence improves dissolution and convenience but is not proven superior to every capsule.

It takes second place for dose, transparency and value. But a testing claim without a readable report cannot outrank accessible batch evidence.

Community Reviews: On Amazon, Carbamide Forte 600 mg effervescent reviews is rated 4.3 stars from 348 global ratings. Buyers particularly like the mild orange flavour, quick dissolution and ease of adding it to a daily routine. Feedback around hydration and skin glow is largely favourable, though it remains subjective and cannot verify the labelled dose.

3. Glutone 1000 Setria® Glutathione | Score: 84/100

Active Dose Formulation Label Transparency Sourcing & Testing Price Community Reviews
28/28 20/22 16/17 14/17 2/11 4/5

Best for buyers who prioritise a traceable glutathione source.

Form: Effervescent tablet

Dose: 600 mg Setria® L-glutathione

Price: ₹2,080 for 15 tablets, or about ₹138.67 per serving

Glutone 1000 Setria® Glutathione 1000 combines Setria® glutathione, N-acetylcysteine at 400 mg, vitamin C at 40 mg, and 40 mcg of selenium. Setria® is manufactured by Kyowa Hakko Bio, thus giving consumers a supplied ingredient that can be traced. The Glutone website identifies Setria® and Kyowa Hakko Bio.

A branded ingredient can offer clearer sourcing and specifications. However, it does not verify every finished tablet. No independent final product batch report was found. At about ₹139 per dose, it is the most expensive product on this list.

Pros

  • Strongest raw-material traceability in the comparison.
  • Full 600 mg dose.
  • Includes N-acetylcysteine, a precursor used by the body to make glutathione.
  • Easy-to-dissolve format.

Cons

  • Highest price per serving.
  • No accessible independent finished-product report found.
  • Supplier credentials are not the same as retail-batch testing.

For readers comparing Setria vs OPITAC glutathione, Glutone offers the higher dose. It is also the better-known source. Its premium price is harder to justify for budget-focused buyers.

Community Reviews: The Glutone 1000 Setria Amazon reviews show 3.9 stars from 748 global ratings. Many reviewers describe the product as good quality and report a brighter-looking complexion, but opinions on effectiveness are divided. Cost is the clearest concern, with a noticeable share of buyers saying the product is too expensive for the results they observed.

3. Chicnutrix Glow OPITAC™ Glutathione | Score: 82/100

Active Dose Formulation Label Transparency Sourcing & Testing Price Community Reviews
23/28 20/22 15/17 13/17 7/11 4/5

Best 500 mg effervescent choice with a named Japanese source.

Form: Effervescent tablet

Dose: 500 mg OPITAC™ L-glutathione

Price: About ₹839–₹949 for 20 tablets, depending on flavour and offer

Chicnutrix Glow OPITAC™ Glutathione combines OPITAC™ glutathione at 500 mg and 40 mg of vitamin C. OPITAC™ is a fermentation-derived ingredient. It is linked to Mitsubishi Corporation Life Sciences. The supplier claims a US FDA-notified GRAS status, though this can be a misconception regarding the ingredient’s safety for food use. This status does not mean that the finished supplement is safe and effective for the intended purpose. Or that it contains the stated dose in every batch.

Due to its lower dose and unavailability of a finished-product report, Chicnutrix Glow ranks lower than the 600 mg providers. But because of its named source, it can be more traceable than L-glutathione. Listings at the time showed a 20-day pack priced at approximately ₹42–₹47 per tablet.

Pros

  • Traceable OPITAC™ source.
  • Simple formula with vitamin C.
  • Multiple flavours and effervescent format.
  • Less expensive than Glutone.

Cons

  • Lower dose than the top three.
  • No accessible batch-specific report found.
  • Price changes by flavour and promotion.

Ratings can indicate taste or packaging preferences. But they cannot prove that glutathione for pigmentation will work. Sunscreen, topical products, lighting and natural variation can also influence perceived results.

Community Reviews: Amazon ratings shows the Chicnutrix Glow Orange 20-tablet reviews 4.1 stars from 92 global ratings. The available feedback leans positive on flavour, convenience and the effervescent format, with some users reporting improved radiance. The modest rating volume means it should be treated as early marketplace feedback rather than strong validation.

4. Tata 1mg Glutathione Reduced Advanced Capsules | Score: 76/100

Active Dose Formulation Label Transparency Sourcing & Testing Price Community Reviews
23/28 15/22 17/17 6/17 11/11 4/5

Best budget capsule with a fully disclosed multi-active panel.

Form: Capsule

Dose: 500 mg L-glutathione

Price: ₹595 for 30 capsules, or about ₹19.83 per serving

This product contains a hefty dose of ingredients compared to its competitors. It has 500 mg of L-Glutathione, 40 mg of vitamin C, 30 mg of grape seed extract, 30 mg of alpha lipoic acid, 10 mg of vitamin E, and 40 mcg of biotin. Additionally, there is no proprietary blend, as all ingredient amounts are disclosed on the product’s label.

However, Tata 1mg takes fifth place in this ranking, as no third-party potency report was found. Its source of glutathione is also very generic. A capsule form is not inherently ineffective. There was a randomised six-month trial where glutathione in its oral form (at 250 mg and 1000 mg) increased stores in a measurable, time-dependent relationship. From this trial, it cannot be concluded that one particular oral form is superior to the rest.

Pros

  • Affordable monthly supply.
  • Every major cofactor is individually dosed.
  • Suitable for buyers who prefer an unflavoured capsule.
  • Current 1mg data showed a 3.9 rating from 116 ratings, used only as a purchase-experience signal.

Cons

  • Generic ingredient source.
  • No accessible batch report found.
  • Not suitable for people who struggle with capsules.

Community Reviews: Tata 1mg Glutathione Advanced Amazon reviews currently display 4.0 stars from 674 global ratings. Customer feedback commonly points to straightforward daily use and perceived improvements in skin hydration or appearance. As with the other products, these reports describe user experience and do not replace independent potency testing.

6. Carbamide Forte Japanese Reduced L-Glutathione 500 mg Tablets | Score: 75/100

Active Dose Formulation Label Transparency Sourcing & Testing Price Community Reviews
23/28 13/22 14/17 9/17 11/11 5/5

Lowest label-price per 500 mg serving.

Form: Vegetarian tablet

Dose: 500 mg L-glutathione

Price: ₹574 for 30 tablets, or about ₹19.13 per serving

Carbamide Forte’s offer of Glutathione is more of a “combo” product, as it includes hyaluronic acid, lycopene, vitamin E, and biotin. Furthermore, the company states that its Glutathione is sourced from Mitsubishi in Japan. This is more informative than claiming “high-quality” ingredients with no further explanation.

This product contains 30 tablets and costs ₹19 per serving. Therefore, it is fairly priced. However, a negative point is that there are no third-party quality assurance and testing reports. Therefore, it is inaccurate to state this product has the cheapest verified dose.

Pros

  • Lowest checked cost per serving.
  • Names a Japanese raw-material source.
  • Includes additional skin-support nutrients.
  • Convenient monthly pack.

Cons

  • Standard tablet with no specialised delivery system.
  • No accessible retail-batch report found.
  • Named sourcing does not verify final-product potency.

It suits cost-conscious buyers. But Tata 1mg ranks slightly higher. Because its complete cofactor amounts are easier to verify from the official listing.

Community Reviews: With 4.1 stars from 1,603 global ratings, the Carbamide Forte 500 mg tablet Amazon reviews have the largest Amazon review base in this comparison. Buyers often highlight the easy-to-take tablets and report favourable experiences with skin hydration, tone and texture. The strong volume supports purchase familiarity, but it does not resolve the absence of a public finished-product batch report.

What Makes a Glutathione Supplement Actually Work?

Why Does the Delivery Form Matter?

There was much debate around oral absorption for years due to the breakdown of glutathione in digestion. Human studies now show that oral supplementation can increase glutathione levels. A randomised, double-blind study of 54 participants showed that 250 mg and 1,000 mg daily for 6 months increased glutathione stores in different body compartments. But it depended on the dosage and time.

Another study showed that glutathione stores were increased with the use of a liposomal product. This does not mean that all liposomal supplements are better. Effervescent tablets may increase the consumer’s likelihood of taking the product. They dissolve prior to use. But quality head-to-head studies do not show that they are better than capsules with the same ingredient and dose.

Because of this, the form of delivery should be evaluated alongside the dosage, storage, manufacturing quality, product quality, consistency, and testing of the finished product.

How Does Glutathione Affect Skin Pigmentation?

Glutathione may also inhibit the enzyme tyrosinase. This enzyme is responsible for melanin formation. It may also shift melanin pigmentation toward the production of the lighter pheomelanin compared to eumelanin. This may be why phrases like “glutathione tablets for skin whitening” are marketed. Just because there is a plausible mechanism does not mean that it will definitely happen.

A study that used 500 mg of oral glutathione showed lower melanin index levels in some test areas. A study that used 250 mg over a 12-week time period showed similar improvements in test areas of the skin. Evidence reviews have also shown that results have been inconsistent across test areas and outcomes. Glutathione may support a brighter and more even tone. However, it is not an effective treatment option for melasma or other post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Branded Source vs Generic: Does It Matter?

Setria® and OPITAC™ show the name of the raw-material manufacturer, so they have better traceability. Having no supplier or certificate does not mean that generic L-glutathione is worse. It simply offers less information.

“Branded source” and “finished-product test” answer different questions. The source describes who produced the glutathione ingredient. While a batch assay describes what is found in the final tablet or capsule. Ideally, a product would have both.

Dosage, Daily Use and Safety

How Much Glutathione Should You Take?

These six products suggest a daily serving of 500–600 mg. Research has looked at these amounts, as well as 250 mg and 1,000 mg, for periods of four weeks up to six months, but these amounts do not become your prescription. Always follow the product label, and do not take more than one supplement to increase the dose.

Changes in your body from supplementation are gradual. Most studies looked at the effect of glutathione on the skin after four to 12 weeks. It showed that it brightened the skin. While the six-month study showed that body levels of glutathione increased with dose and duration. This does not mean that you will see bright skin after six months. There are many other factors that may inhibit bright skin. Like other skincare, nutrition levels, genetics, sun exposure, and reasons for skin pigmentation.

Vitamin C is included in many of these formulas because it synergises with the antioxidant effect. If your GSH has Vitamin C, hold off on purchasing a skincare product that has Vitamin C in it.

Is Oral Glutathione Safe for Daily Use?

Oral glutathione, as noted in short- to medium-term studies, was mostly well tolerated. Side effects can include digestive discomfort, bloating, and cramps. The long-term effects of oral glutathione, especially for cosmetic use, have not been studied. So being “well tolerated” should not be interpreted as being safe.

Serious concerns revolve around severe skin reactions and potential injury to the liver and kidneys. These concerns are specific to high-dose, unregulated intravenous use. There are major differences between oral supplements and intravenous use. The evidence strongly suggests that casual use of intravenous glutathione for skin lightening is strongly contraindicated. Such use should be avoided.

It is important to evaluate the potential benefits of oral glutathione against the potential risks. Speak to a doctor or dietitian before using the supplement if you have any of the known contraindications. Or if you are planning on using the supplement while combining other known antioxidants. Use should be stopped, and medical help should be sought for any of the following:

  • Swelling
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Widespread rash
  • Or any of the known severe adverse reactions.

Supplements should never be viewed as a replacement for dermatological care or a broad-spectrum sun block. If you have sudden or irregular pigmentation, or if your pigmentation is persistent, then you should seek the care of a specialist. The best product is not the one offering the greatest whitening effect. Instead, it is the one that offers the best balance of dose, evidence, safety, cost, and transparency about your health.

Conclusion

The right option depends on your preferred dose, delivery form, budget and need for testing transparency. Return to the comparison table to evaluate the six products side by side. Choose a dose-transparent supplement that matches your priorities.

Look beyond skin-brightening promises. Prioritise a clear ingredient panel, traceable sourcing and accessible testing evidence.

Daily oral glutathione is generally considered safe as it is well tolerated at the studied doses. There is limited information about the long-term use of oral glutathione for cosmetic purposes. Oral glutathione supplements should not be compared to high-dose intravenous glutathione. The latter has been associated with serious safety concerns. It is contraindicated for skin-lightening purposes. For daily use, it is advisable for those with special health conditions to consult their physician.

The time it takes oral glutathione to show results on the skin varies from person to person. Some may even see no results at all. Generally, oral glutathione can take up to 4 to 8 weeks to start showing results. One clinical study tested 500mg of oral glutathione over a 4-week period. Other studies show that the body's stores of glutathione increase after a longer period and are dependent on the dose.

Setria® and OPITAC™ are trademarked forms of reduced glutathione from specific manufacturers. Because of this, their sourcing is easier to evaluate. Regular L-glutathione may supply the same active component, but a generic label may not identify its manufacturer. Setria® is produced by Kyowa Hakko Bio and OPITAC™ is produced by Mitsubishi Life Sciences. Sourcing of the branded form does not eliminate the need for finished-product testing.

There is generally good tolerability of oral glutathione over the short-term in clinical studies. Some users reported mild digestive discomfort and other individual reactions. More serious concerns have been reported. These included concerns about the liver and kidneys, the nervous system, and extreme skin reactions. They have mainly been associated with unregulated intravenous glutathione used for skin lightening. Discontinue any supplement and seek medical attention for any severe reactions.
