The Right Shower Routine for Better Skin

Shower Routine

We all know how important it is to maintain healthy and glowing skin. Healthy skin does not only mean that its appearance is attractive but also that it is properly cleansed, exfoliated, and free of any type of skin disease. Usually, we give a lot of attention to our face and make sure that we take proper care of it. But our body is the one that gets overlooked. The best way to take care of your body is to maintain a proper shower routine, which will give you glowing, clean skin.

You can follow the routine once or twice a week so that your skin is thoroughly cleansed and all the dead cell buildup is removed. In this article, we will tell you about a shower routine for glowing skin.

Step by Step Shower Routine

If you maintain a hygienic and healthy shower routine, it can have multiple benefits and make you look and feel refreshed. Here is the step-by-step daily skincare routine for glowing skin.

1. Remove Makeup

Before showering, it is a good idea to remove your makeup. This will help prevent the product from clogging your pores and causing them to become drier, which can lead to breakouts. Also, removing makeup before the shower would save time and make it easier to remove the makeup completely.

You can use micellar water or cleansing balms to break down the makeup. Cleansing balms are usually more gentle on the skin. Make sure you choose a non-comedogenic cleansing balm so that it doesn’t clog your pores. After melting the makeup, use cotton pads or makeup wipes to remove it.

2. Use Face Masks

Face Masks are great for your skin. They can be an important addition to your skincare routine. If you usually don’t get time for Face masks, you can do them weekly before your shower routine. After removing the makeup and washing your face you can apply the face mask and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing it off.

Some ingredients to look for in a face mask are:

  • Hyaluronic acid: It is really helpful if you have dry skin or your skin is damaged and needs a soothing face mask.
  • Salicylic Acid: If you have acne-prone skin or you’re dealing with active acne, a face mask with Salicylic acid will be helpful. Salicylic acid will also help control excess sebum production.
  • Green tea: Green tea has anti-oxidizing properties and it is a soothing ingredient that will detoxify the skin.

3. Maintain Water Temperature

The water temperature in your showers must feel warm and comfortable when you step into it, but not too hot to make you uncomfortable. The temperature must be comfortable for your body but it must be warm enough to make your muscles relax and clean your pores.

4. Wash Your Hair

It is important to wash your hair thrice a week, especially if you have an oily scalp. Even if your hair is dry you must wash your hair at least once a week. Wash your hair without cleansing shampoo and after that, you can apply a hair mask to provide management to your hair. While the hair mask sits on your head for 15 to 20 minutes you can exfoliate your body or shave.

One important thing to keep in mind when washing hair is that you must not use hot water to wash your hair. Hot water can make your scalp sensitive and also strip your scalp of its natural oils making your hair dry and causing hair fall. You can use a scalp brush to thoroughly massage your scalp while shampooing. This will enhance blood circulation and also remove the dirt build-up on your scalp.

5. Exfoliate Your Body

You must be exfoliating the skin on your face by using physical or chemical exfoliators but what about your body?

The dead cells might cause a buildup in your body, and this might be a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. You can suffer from fungal skin infections or acne on your body. The best way to avoid this is to exfoliate your body. You can use a body scrubber, loofah, or bathing brush to exfoliate your body once a week. Make sure that you do so gently and do not irritate your skin. You can use a shower gel with salicylic acid regularly to mildly exfoliate your body.

6. Moisturise

Once you thoroughly clean your body and are done with the shower, moisturise your skin. It is better to moisturise your body while it is damp to prevent dryness and itching. Use a non-comedogenic body lotion to prevent clogging of pores. If you have extremely dry skin, you can try non-comedogenic body oils for moisturising.

These are the steps that you can follow to maintain glowing skin. You can add or remove steps from it according to your convenience. The basic purpose of a shower is to cleanse your body and you must keep that in mind. Besides cleaning your body you must also make sure you keep your towels and body scrubbers clean and dry.

Conclusion

Showering is not only for hygiene purposes but also gives us a feeling of freshness and cleanliness. A proper shower provides us with a perfect way to wash off all the dirt, grime, sweat, and other impurities from our bodies.

Use soap or body wash to cleanse your body and exfoliate your body to remove buildup. You can add your skincare routine to your shower routine to completely refresh your body and get glowing skin.

Maintaining a shower routine for glowing skin might seem like a lot of work at first, but once you figure out how to do it, it’ll be easier. A skincare routine along with a shower routine will ensure that your face and the rest of the body are cleansed properly and glowy.
