Ideal training mindset of a peron is the true reflection of who you are. How many times have you stepped into the gym, absolutely confident, raring to go, lusting after the iron, impatient to lift the most you can?
For most of you it cannot be very common. This is because most of the commercial gyms in India are targeted at casual trainees with no dedication to training, and no care for nutrition. You, being the lifter who actually came in hoping to break personal records, might end up suffering. Because the majority of gym culture actually encourages this behavior.
There is no escape to this, but there is a solution:
Listen to music that truly inspires you
Here, music comes to your aid. Listen to music that inspires you; not what you listen for fun. Listen to the sort of music that you want to give everything when you train. You shouldn’t be coming to the gym to socialize, or make friends. That may come as a byproduct, but don’t let it get in way of your training.
Visualize yourself as the person you want to be after years of training
If you are looking for weight loss or for some serious muscle, you need to feel like you are going for a war when you enter the gym. You need to focus, block all the mediocrity around you, and get your instincts up. All you must see is the weight, and see yourself work it out. If you see yourself with six pack abs, supplement your workout with best fat burners and pre/post workout programs.
Socialize in the gym to learn the tricks of the trade
The only way you should be socializing is learning. See the biggest, strongest person in the gym? If you want to burn fat, ask them how to lose weight, ask their methods. Try to convince them to train with you. Learn from them – don’t ape them in everyhting, but selectively gain knowledge from them that helps. Try to find out about how certain muscles work, and what works for you? Do not be part of bicep culture, which everyone seems to be a part of, and try to develop your true strength. Back it up with proper body building supplements and you have the perfect recipe for building some serious muscle.
Many men and women who achieved greatness in strength sports such as powerlifting, Olympic lifting and of course, Bodybuilding, have described training in the gym to be an emotional support as well. When other things aren’t going too well, keep training as a constant. Also complement your training with whey proteins and other supplements. It’s a great way to vent and reap the rewards as well.
Keep yourself focused, but be reasonable about it
Here focus doesn’t mean that you become menace in the gym. Wait for your turn, don’t steal someone else’s weight and re-wrack the weights once you’ve used them. Being a serious lifter and being an annoying presence are two very different things.
As Arnold Schwarzenegger once famously said, “The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as as you really believe 100 percent“.
Repeat this in your mind, and train hard, eat big, stay strong!
