Nutritious Khichdi

Ingredients:

3/4 cup whole wheat (gehun)

1/2 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)

1/2 cup chopped mixed vegetables (peas , cauliflower , onions , french beans , carrots etc.)

1/4 cup soya granules

1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

2 green chillies , slit green chillies

1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)

1 1/2 tsp oil

1/4 tsp salt

Method:

Clean, wash and soak the wheat overnight. Drain and keep aside.

Drain and grind the wheat to a coarse paste in a blender without using any water. Keep aside.

Clean, wash and soak the moong dal for 2 to 3 hours. Drain and keep aside.

Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds, green chillies and asafoetida.

When the seeds crackle, add the wheat, moong dal, vegetables and soya granules and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes.

Add salt and 2¼ cups of hot water and pressure cook for 6 to 7 whistles or until cooked.

Serve hot.
